"Curing Conrad" started life somewhere, we don't know where...but we do know he some how ended up at a very kind lady's house. She fed him outside for awhile and then soon realized that he did not have any front claws. Knowing that street life is no place for a de-clawed kitty she took him to thevet to get him help. While getting his shots and his first check up they soon realized Conrad was sick. After putting a good amount of money into Conrad the nice lady thought Conrad was finally cured. He is FeLV / FIV negative. She contacted Waverly Pet Rescue to take him in and find him a forever home as she could not keep him. Conrad was in WPR's foster care program and was having horrible diarrhea. He spent three weeks at the vet and was finally diagnosed with an urinary track infection. He got medicine, a bath, and shaved because his fur was a complete mess. Conrad finally got to come back home and was eating special food for his UTI. Weeks went by and it did not seem like he was getting any better so he went back to the vet again. He got another bath, shave, blood panel, and urinalysis this showed that he still has bacteria in his urine but does not explain the skin condition he has. Conrad also weighs about half of what he should weigh, at only 6.5 lbs. Conrad's fur is greasy and his skin is flaky. He is now on medicine for his UTI and for his skin condition and they are researching why his fur is 'greasy'. Also his whiskers are brittle and break off. He spends most of his time in his large dog-sized kennel because he is such a mess. He does get out to play at least twice a day. We are asking for donations toward The Cure For Conrad, to get him out of his kennel and into a FOREVER HOME!! Conrad is an unbelievably lovable kitty. He nubs and rubs all over his foster mom and even GIVES HUGS!! He will sit at your feet and tap you on your leg requesting attention. He has the most adorable face. He gets along with all other cats. He is just a LOVE! His vet bills so far for us are in the hundreds of dollars that WPR simply does not have, but there is no option but to push forward until Conrad is Cured!!! No donation to small!! Conrad has a big heart and all he wants is love and to be healthy. We have a feeling he may of gotten a UTI in his old home and that is why he was thrown out on the streets like a piece of trash. Left to fend for himself with half his claws and less than perfect health, he found an angel to save him and now he needs more angels to finish his road to recovery. So he is up to 8.5 lbs. He is still greasy and 'wet'. We now have taken a skin impression to see if he has a skin fungus problem. If that does does not show us anything then we will do a skin biopsy.
