Basset Hound - Medium - Adult - Male - Dog - Skipper
Description
**PLEASE GO TO OUR HOME PAGE TO FILL OUT THE ONLINE APPLICATION! I can email one also if requested. Home page: www.wpr.petfinder.com Skipper was in a shelter on death row. When his time was up, Waverly Pet Rescue took him in so that he would not die. He is now in a volunteer home. Skip is up-to-date on shots, heartworm negative, and neutered. Skipper is about 6 - 7 years old. He is a super friendly boy and has the typical happy-go-lucky basset personality. He enjoys being petted and getting attention. He looks to the people around him for love and affection. He does good around other dogs and around cats. I am sure he would be great with kids too. Just would want to make sure the kids were gentle with him and not try to ride him like a horse or something. Skipper did mark in the house when he first went to his volunteer home, but now that he is neutered he has not done it again. We did have him checked for a bladder infection and he does not have one. The vet said he does have extra crystals in his urine so he must be on the special dog food from the vet. It really doesn't cost that much more than the other food there is. And it is great quality food so is better for him that the other kinds anyway. He is working on housetraining and doing very well. He would need continued training in a new home. Skipper had a broken leg from leg when he was younger in the past that no one took him to the vet to fix at the time. So it has healed on its own the best that it could. The vet took x-rays of the leg and feels it is best we just leave it alone. He gets around really well on it and has this cute little walk and run. He does good when there is just a couple steps to get up. I don't know how he would do with a full staircase so would be best in a home with only a couple of steps. Skipper is an absolute sweetheart of a dog and would make a wonderful family pet! 4/28/09 UPDATE: Skipper is wonderful around children. He is a sweet boy and loves all the attention he can get from them. He even did ok going up and then back down a full case of stairs! He surprised all of us when visiting family, thier dog ran upstairs and Skipper followed him. I still don't think he should do that every day all the time, but it was good to see he could actually do it. He did great it the other home while visiting and did not have any accidents. He enjoyed running around in the fenced in yard and playing. Skipper is truly a wonderful dog! Will someone please adopt Skipper and give him a loving forever home? $75.00 adoption fee. (his vet bill was over $200, but due to his age, we will keep his adoption fee low) **PLEASE GO TO OUR HOME PAGE TO FILL OUT THE ONLINE APPLICATION! I can email one also if requested.
