A rescue saved him so that he would not die and now he is with the Waverly Pet Rescue. He was adopted to a family who dearly loves him. But they have now had to return him due to one daughter being very allergic to him. He is heartworm negative, up-to-date on shots, and neutered. He is living in a foster home. Sully is 3 or 4 years old and is tri-colored low to the ground petite Basset boy. He will never weigh over 40-45 lbs and will always be a solid boy, but what he lacks in size he makes up for in personality. Sully is the cutest basset I have even seen! He has that sad Hush Puppy look that just melts your heart. Sully overall does well with other dogs. This little guy is skin and bones so we are going to feed him well! Lets you know when he needs to go out. He's a little confused about the household routine, but I think he'll catch on. Crated him last night and he was quiet. Such a cutie! He is a an absolute RIOT of a boy. Sully absolutely LOVES the company of other dogs and all though he tried to assert his male dominance at first never once does it in a mean way, he just wishes to be TOP DOG!! Once he gets his way he is just another wonderful member of the family. He is house trained and seems to know what inside living means, but he still has those great Basset qualities of wanting to counter surf and drink out of the toilet. He ADORES children and v-lines it right towards a child when he sees them. He would love a fenced in yard so he can run around. He needs to always be on a leash or a tie out if not in a fenced in area because his bassetness will make him wander off when he catches a scent! 8/18/09 UPDATE: My kids love him, and he is responding well to them. We have steps in the house that he navigates slowly. He has eaten and drank well so far. Great dog! 8/25/09 UPDATE: Hes doing well. He loves my kids when they are here. I just gave him a bath yesterday and we walk a lot. He really enjoys being outside. I dont have a fenced in yard, so we do go outside a lot. 10/10/09 UPDATE: Sully needs a home with no cats. He will chase and chase and bark and bark at them. Too much for a normal cat to have to live with every day. Now if you have a giant alpha cat that can swat Sully and put him in his place, that might work. Don't know. Sully does well with other dogs but tends to want to be dominate. So if you have a dog, he needs an experienced dog owner who can handle this. Sully needs to learn you are the alpha dog, not him. He needs to not sleep on your bed or go on the furniture. He must go behind you and the other dog when you go out the door. This will teach him that he is lower in rank. In time, the bed and furniture will be ok after he has realized you are the pack leader. But this must be established in the home in the first 2 weeks. We have a dog trainer in the rescue that can explain more if needed. Sully is a wonderful dog and just needs an owner who loves him and can establish rules with him. We only adopt to indoor homes. To see an animal, you must fill out an application first and then once approved, we can set up for you to meet the animal you are interested in. If they appear healthy and there are no obvious health concerns, then extensive testing is not done. This is normal procedure for pet rescues and shelters.
