Chocolate Labrador Retriever - Large - Adult - Male - Dog - Butc
Description
Butch was a stray that no one claimed in the shelter he ended up in. When his time was up, the Waverly Pet Rescue took him in so that he would not die. Butch is up-to-date on shots, heartworm neagtive, and neutered. Butch is living in a foster home. Butch is about 1-1/2-years old. He is a very active and energetic male. He has lots of energy! He is very friendly and has that great lab personality. Would do best in a home that is willing to give him lots of exercise and attention as Butch does need a lot of room to run and play. Would be great if Butch had a fenced in yard so he can run around all he wants! It is unknown right now if he is housetrained. He is a smart dog and should learn quickly if you train him with the crate method. 9/28/09 UPDATE: The vet office where we are boarding Butch said he is a great dog. He was very hyper his first day there but has calmed down now after a couple of days. He is so friendly and just wants to please humans any way he can. He seems to be housetrained threy said as he has never messed in his kennel. He already knows "sit" and "stay". He is a smart dog and very trainable. 10/7/09 UPDATE: Butch is in an actual foster home now. The first day him and the foster dog growled at each other trying to establish dominance. But it is better after a day and he has settled in. Now him and the foster dog like to play together. He is learning his limits and boundries, learning what no means. We need to start working on training a little more and will do that this weekend. He gets upset when you walk away from him and go in the house or leave him in a room and you walk away. He has some sores on his neck from his collar rubbing on it. We are treated it with meds. 10/12/09 UPDATE: Butch is doing really well. No accidents in the house, he hasn't tried to chew on anything but his bone or toys and he stays out of the garbage. He does excellent with his baths, sits patiently doesn't try to get out or anything. His sore on his neck itsn't getting any better so we are having him stay inside so he doesn't have the pressure on it. I think since he has to be tied the sore keeps getting opened again. He still has seperation anxiety, when we put him in the basement, the dogs play area with toys and bones, but he is getting better. He will do about anything for a treat and is learning to sit and wait for his food. I would suggest a house with a fenced in yard, he does really well on the tie out but he might continue to get sores from it. At first we could let him run and play with us in the yard but since its not fenced we soon learned how much he loves to chase birds in the field. He got away from me one day and ran across the field and woudn't come when I called, but as soon as I pulled up in the van he jumped right in. He knows not to jump on our family but when new people come he gets excited and jumps up. Some men he has problems trusting right away, he is a little shy when they go to pet him but he is never aggressive to a human. He is learning not to chase cats or my pet rabbits. Butch is a great dog! Will someone please adopt Butch and give him a forever home? $75.00 adoption fee. **PLEASE GO TO OUR HOME PAGE TO FILL OUT THE ONLINE APPLICATION!
